With minimal staff available, we greatly depend on volunteers at the shelter to provide quality care for our animals and to support our programs.

Orientations are held once a month for new volunteers.

Dog Socializer

Walking, socializing, basic grooming, and light training of dogs and puppies. Alert staff if a dog displays obvious health or behavior problems.

Cat Socializer

Spend therapeutic and loving time socializing with our cats in our cat rooms playing, petting, and brushing. Alert staff if a cat displays obvious health or behavior problems.

Adopt-A-Pet Counselor/Assistant

Offsite adoptions are our most successful ways of finding homes for our precious animals. Duties include transporting animals to an offsite location, walking dogs, representing the organization, interviewing prospective pet owners, answering questions, etc. You must attend volunteer orientation and will be given a packet on terminology, pet adoption rules, etc. We require that you commit one to two Saturdays per month for this position. Shelter Greeter/Shelter Assistant/Data Entry

Greet public. Give shelter tours and answer phones. Provide assistance with mailings, office operations, keeping forms updated, keeping dog bios updated, maintaining volunteer bulletin board and dog walking board, as well as some phone work after proper training. Assist with database input on shelter computer.

Direct Mail Volunteer

Address, stuff, seal and post shelter mailings.

Foster Parent

Take kittens, puppies or other special needs animals into your home and care for them until they are ready for adoption.

Grant Writer

Work with management to prepare grant applications to foundations and corporations on our behalf. Will assist with training if you qualify.

Neighborhood Bank Assistant

Find merchants near your home and ask them to place a donation bank at their counter. You will be responsible for collecting the money and returning it to us weekly.

Special Events Coordinator or Assistant

If you have any ideas for fundraisers, we would love to hear them. If you have the ability and time, you can coordinate the event or be one of our many assistants.
